Public bug reported:

1) boot into gnome
2) click on 'activities'
3) click on 'terminal'
4) observe spinning circle pointer...

there doesn't appear to be a #5.   Gnome just stays hung in that state.

Sometimes leaving to tty and coming back to xorg/re-logging in causes it to 
load, other times
killing gnome-shell is the only way to unlock the session.
