It looks like you have a way deeper problem than "just" uuid-runtime.
For some reason booting never finished, and it's actually quite a
miracle that you can log in at all. Or something in the upgrade
restarted systemd/sysinit.target/something similar which is stuck (this
is much more likely). After this happens, please do "sudo journalctl -b
> /tmp/journal.txt" and attach /tmp/journal.txt here. Thanks!
