Hello,
As mckryptyk told, I had a similar problem as described in
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=534810 :
Since about 2 weeks, Firefox on Ubuntu Gutsy froze sometimes (without
any specific reason), and always when I clicked on a link with
javascript that opened a new window (not for tabs), for example on
webmail.spamcop.net to write a new message :
javascript:popup_imp('/horde/imp/compose.php',700,650,'thismailbox=INBOX')
Everything on Firefox froze, I had to kill the process and restart it,
even if I ran FF with terminal, nothing appeared as error.
I first thought it was because of plugin Flash nonfree, I deactivated it
and nothing changed, by the way I had no problem when reading flash
content or by opening Edit => Preferences.
It is a problem related to javascript link with new window. I searched a
lot on forums, found nothing which worked.
So I tried to deactivate all my Firefox extensions and activate only one
by one, and I finally found which one was causing the trouble :
It is CS Lite (previously Cookie Safe extension) :
http://forum.softwareblaze.com/viewforum.php?f=7
And just about 10 days ago, it was updated ! Before all worked fine,
with CS Lite Firefox froze by opening new window with JS link, and when
it is deactivated, all is fine again.
I sent an e-mail to the developer in order to see if he can fix it.
I do not now if my experience is related to this bug specifically, but
if it can help...
Best regards.
