Public bug reported:
Since version 0.23+15.10.20150827.3-0ubuntu1, the context menu has been
overhauled to use the contextMenu API new in oxide 1.8, which allows
access to more contextual information, including the currently selected
text on the page. However the menu implementation doesn’t take advantage
of that, and doesn’t offer any contextual action for text selection.
This is not yet visible for end users as text selection with a mouse
didn’t work until very recently (bug #1459392), and the fix will be
released with oxide 1.9. When oxide 1.9 is out, text selection with a
mouse will work in the browser, so we should have contextual actions for
it (copy and share, I guess).
