Public bug reported:

during installation i configured my gentoo partition to be mounted as
/mnt/gentoo. after migrating my stuff from that partition I deleted it
with gparted and created a couple of new partitions in it's place.
During the next boot the splash screen disappeared and failed fsck info
was visible complaining that partition with XX UUID was not found and
dumped to a recovery console.

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
