I forgot to mention that I looked up on the links you provided but the
zip file that was downloaded from
http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers contains only one folder
named 'Windows'. This folder only contains a .exe file and a readme file
which says that the user should open the .exe file under windows mode.

I thought that my bios probably needs a winphlash but from what I read
from this forum (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1295003) that
is not the case because the zip file did not provide a winphlash
application. I am probably missing something but I don't know what to do
in this situation.
