Thanks for your patience (it was Ubuntu distribution and pidgin package !) As i said, since apturl works with links in Firefox 2 for Gutsy, i think it should also work with other softwares which are able to handle links : Evince with PDF files and Pidgin.
Both Firefox, Evince and Pidgin are bundle with Ubuntu, that's why it would make sense to unify their behaviour.
