I applied the suggested update to the Vivid enablement stack as outlined in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack
The resulting video behaviour is not 100% but very much better. I got some errors during the update process and captured them as best I could via the attached 3 screenshots.
