I have included a screenshot.
I have just installed a new ubuntu 14.04 VM and in the default VMWare window
size the software centre has no search box.
Typing Ctrl-F and attempting to blind type into the search box then pressing
<ENTER> causes nothing to happen; so it doesn't appear if the search box is
offscreen.
A friend with a desktop Ubuntu 14.04 install has confirmed that the bug
is reproducable by resizing the software centre window so it is "quite
small".
