Public bug reported:
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a video on an `nfs` mount
2. make the `nfs` mount unreachable, e.g. pull the network cable/disconnect
wifi
3. close the `vlc` window
The window is closed, but the process stays alive for ever and can't be
killed with SIGINT, but needs to be killed with SIGKILL. This causes all
invokations of `vlc` to fail while the process is still active.
