I think i am having the same problem. I am using Kubuntu(with all the latest updates in the gusty respotoriy). I have 2 PCMCIA prism wifi cards. on the latest kernel in gusty if either card is plugged in on boot i get a kernel panic. they both work(well.....with problems!) in kernel 2.6.17-10-generic. any kernel newer then that gives me a kernel panic(or lots of errors). I noticed that if i boot with the wifi card not plugged in it boots fine. if i then plug the card in after i boot and run lspcmcia when booting the 2.6.22-12-generic kernel, it shows a different driver being used then what is used in 2.6.17-10-generic. 2.6.17-10-generic shows "orinoco_cs". and 2.6.22-12-generic shows "hostap". I don't know how to get the log information. if some one could give me directions to how to do that i will give you any logs files you need.
