I changed the bug status to Confirmed. Here is partial description in my
case:
computer: HP ZBook 15
Couple of day ago I had a dual-booting configuration: Ubuntu 15.04 MATE +
Windows 7 . Both 64 bit.
I decided to replace Ubuntu 15.04 MATE by Ubuntu 15.10 MATE. I did a clean new
installation of the ubuntu. The new ubuntu was booting fine but I was not able
to boot Windows.
Then I decided to try to live without Windows, i.e. to install ubuntu on
the whole disk, removing Windows. I did so. The new installation of
ubuntu-mate 15.10 (the image dated to 3rd October) does not boot
automatically. The only way to boot it is to enter an initial boot menu
(ECS key, then F9 key, then choose EFI file, then ubuntu etc).
I did the installation of the ubuntu in UEFI Hybrid mode ("With CSM").
Interestingly, during the complicated boot procedure described above I
can also see a string "microsoft" below "ubuntu", although I deleted my
Windows 7 installation.
While performing ubuntu installation, I chosen disk partitioning as
follows.
1 MB free space (forced by the installer)
/dev/sda1 with /boot/efi
/dev/sda2 mounted on /
swap mounted on /dev/sda3
again 1 MB free space (forced by the installer)
I created primary partitions only, not logical ones. I did dot use LVM.
I did not use the automatic partitioning because I prefer bigger swap space
than would be the one alocated in the default way.
