I attempted this method, but following the instructions, I could not
create a bootable disk.  Following the instructions, my BIOS update file
is to large for the mount.  There are no instructions, nor could I find
any on increasing the size of the mount.

While you may be correct that my BIOS is part of the root cause, it was
working fine for years.  Something changed in the OS that made it not
work.
