After you have to restart hal to get the guidance-power-manager working
again I assume the backlight dimming and FN keys work as you expect?
The reason I ask is that is what this bug report was originally about.
If those work, can you open a new bug report against the 'kde-guidance'
package regarding the latest issues you are seeing. Thanks!
