Public bug reported:

i tried to encrypt an existing partition: i selected the partition, pressed
'Change', changed the type to a physical volume for encryption. i wasn't asked
for a password, instead the partition type (as displayed in the
device/partition table) simply changed to 'crypto'.
then i tried to delete the partition and the installed crashed.

note: i run swapoff before starting the installer.
