I was also not able to replicate this behavior in my initial internal 
lab-system test, so it is nice to see our results are consistent so far.  The 
customer's idmap.conf config looks to be fairly generic:

root@ppc001:~# cat /etc/idmapd.conf
[General]

#Verbosity = 5
Pipefs-Directory = /run/rpc_pipefs
Domain = localdomain

[Mapping]

Nobody-User = nobody
Nobody-Group = nogroup

I'll start digging a little deeper into site/config differences now that
we seem to have consistent results in a test environment.
