My 15.10 "system" started to show quite similar symptoms today. Booting with systemd the progress stops in the graphics 'ubuntu * * * * *' displayed at the center of the screen. After maybe one minute the the screen goes black and couple of lines are displayed proposing some alternatives like to display journal, try again the boot.
With "upstart" booting is ok. The behaviour has been the same for more than 10 tries. I have not applied the patch referred above. My laptop is dualboot Asus G751JY, with NVidia GTX 980M graphics Linux 4.2.0-16-generic #19-Ubuntu SMP Thu Oct 8 15:35:06 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Windows 10 The journal is attached. ** Attachment added: "journal_1510boot.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1509762/+attachment/4513678/+files/journal_1510boot.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1509762 Title: services fail to start with "Failed to subscribe to NameOwnerChanged signal: Connection timed out" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1509762/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
