Could someone check if installing this helps?

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-gnome-default-settings

After installing ubuntu-gnome-desktop, gdm did work again. Therefore I
tried to find out which exact packet is fixing it for me and ubuntu-
gnome-default-settings seems to be the one.
