The drive reported a media error, but this does sometimes happen as the result of a sudden loss of power in the middle of a write. These errors can be corrected by writing to the drive ( just can't read the incorrectly written part ). You might want to run badblocks -n on the drive from a livecd to test reading and writing to the full drive, and if that comes out ok, and the SMART status still indicates no reallocated or pending blocks, then it should be fine.
Unfortunately, correctly diagnosing this requires manual inspection of the logs, along with some testing, like running badblocks or the SMART self test. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1514324 Title: Installer crashes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1514324/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
