a quick verification with 14.04.3 on stock image created live usb,
headset microphone recording still not working, on both front combo jack
and rear mic jack.

and a clarification, I was also using headset to test with mic jack, and
it got a lot noise, but today I try to use a dedicated(stand alone)
microphone on rear mic jack, recording works with both kernel(3.13,
3.19).
