Public bug reported:

This may actually not be a bug I guess but I still think it's a bit
strange.

Our application is using quite a lot more than 64 characters there so
I'm wondering whether we're breaking some standard (I can't find
anything about what the length can be).

But at least our problem is that our application does not launch
properly which may be our own fault but in case it's not I wanted to
check whether this 64 character limitation is actually based on some
specification somewhere or whether this is just a random decision and
if so, whether this length should perhaps be increased?

** Affects: xdg-utils (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
