I'm having the same problem with my Dell Inspiron 15z. It won't boot after upgrading from 15.04 to 15.10. It halts with
dell_smm_hwmon: unable to get SMM Dell Signature at regular bootup. When I select recovery mode from the GRUB menu I can get to a root prompt. None of the other recovery options work. I can do a mount -o rw,remount /dev/sda5 And that works fine. But any attempt to start networking or almost anything results in something about a dell_smm_hwmon error and the system hangs hard. Ctrl-C, Ctrl-Z, and Ctrl-Alt-Del all do nothing. I cannot seem to determine which package this is regarding. The kernel? Some dell-based module? I've looked online and see nothing. Wouldn't mind getting a work-around so the system will function again... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1509578 Title: Unable to load Dell SMM Signature To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1509578/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
