Public bug reported:
[Availability]
Package currently available in universe.
[Rationale]
Dependency for MAAS, to generate friendly machine names. In fact, I wrote the
current code in MAAS that generates friendly machine names and it has been
problematic for various reasons (mostly around potentially offensive names).
I've vastly improved that code in the new set of packages and libraries in
shell, python, and golang. LXD is in fact using the golang library. We would
like MAAS to use the Python one for 16.04.
[Security]
CVEs: none
[Quality assurance]
This code base is actively maintained. There are no open bugs currently. It's
routinely tested at each release time.
[UI standards]
Not applicable
[Dependencies]
All build and runtime dependencies are already in main.
[Standards compliance]
Applicable standards are met.
[Maintenance]
This code base is actively maintained.
[Background information]
This is required by MAAS for 16.04.
