Still affects me on 14.04. Would love a backport if/when this gets
fixed.
I have a Logitech K260 wireless keyboard+mouse combo (only one receiver for
both).
Quick workaround without the command line for me was to plug a normal USB mouse
that seems to be recognized correctly.
$ xinput --list
