Upon seeing this bug I realized my mako tester hadn't gotten any cal
updates for quiite some time, I also see no change to sync in the log.
In account settings I disabled calendar, then re-enabled it. Then I
forced a sync in the calendar app, and it did it. Not sure if the first
step was necessary or not.
