Public bug reported:

There are quite a few questions raised from time to time at AskUbuntu about
making the Unity Launcher 100% transparent and removing the 1 px white border
on its right edge, etc.
So I thought the fact that this (hard-coded) border effectively prevents the
users from making the launcher 100% transparent when this option is selected
might perhaps be considered a bug, and hopefully get fixed, for example, by
allowing users to customize it at least in the same way as launcher icon edges,
backgrounds, etc.

** Affects: unity (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
