This is a known problem with LVM, it doesn't cause kernel events to be
issued

** Changed in: udev (Ubuntu)
Sourcepackagename: udev => lvm2
       Status: Unconfirmed => Rejected

** Summary changed:

- Udev doesn't update /dev/disk/by-label to reflect LVM LVs
+ /dev/disk/by-label doesn't contain information about LVM LVs

** Description changed:

- Binary package hint: udev
-
  I have several LVM VGs, each with multiple LVs. They are all assigned
  disk labels such as "/backup" to reflect their purpose. I mount them
  with LABEL=/backup type entries in /etc/fstab. This same fstab worked
  on Dapper just fine, but now Edgy complains that /dev/disk/by-
  label//backup does not exist. Indeed, by listing the directory, all my
  drives except for the LVs show up just fine. I've searched google, and
  the only reference to having udev update its directories said that
  rebooting would fix it. Obviously this doesn't fix it in this
  situation.

  Seems to affect Edgy only.
