The Acer laptop has 2 seperate jacks: one for mic input, one for headset output (combined with spdif output).
The Dell laptop has probably one jack for headset/mic combined? My guess is that the mapping will be different. Also, looking at https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commits/master/sound/pci/hda/patch_realtek.c, it looks like there are many 'quirks' to get things working. Does anyone know if it's possible to use one of the two ports as a combined mic/headset jack?
