Public bug reported: Hello,
This installment: Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10 beta. A fresh 32 bits desktop installation. 1) I created a tar.Z package of some files in my tmp folder. $ tar -cvzf backup1.tar.Z tmp/ 2) And want to open that tar.Z package in the Nautilus file manager. It cannot open the package directly so it suggest to install the KDE's Ark application. What's wrong with GNOME's own file roller? See the picture: http://bildr.no/view/108489 ----------------------------- ----------------------------- Note: Likewise, this bug has neither been fixed. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/file-roller/+bug/26662 GNOME's file-roller app has several opinions about these tar.Z packages: http://examples.oreilly.com/v1/ Sometimes it reports an error, sometimes it opens them but the content is just garbage. But the "tar -xvzf ..." command from on CLI works always right, so why not the file-roller ? ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Ubuntu 7.10 beta: GNOME suggest to install a KDE "Ark" application. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/146784 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
