I was experiencing this issue on Ubuntu 16.04 with Netbeans 8.0.2
So I then ran
sudo apt-get upgrade netbeans
and was upgraded to 8.1
Started 8.1, asked to import previous version settings which I did.
Still the same issue. I can upload messages.log for v8.0.2 but not for
8.1 as it seems to be missing from ./nb/var/
