We install Ubuntu 14.04.4 version. Everything seems to be fine during install,
then system reboot for post install, but it does not see the bootable disk.
Then we have to stop at SMS menu, scan for all the disk, select a disk to boot
and system can boot up normal.

After system boot up fine, I try to do re-install again on the same
disk. It hits the same issue meaning we have to stop at SMS menu to
select the boot disk after install.

>From Ubuntu installer main menu, select "Save debug logs", you will then see a
>message, "A simple web server has been started on this computer to serve log
>files". Retrieve the files and attach to the bug:
wget http://<node>/hardware-summary
wget http://<node>/syslog
Please do this before you do a restart after the installation completes. If the
above logs are from the installer screen itself, then please ignore this
comment.

Hi Chang,

Can you please test the package in [1] at the end of the installation?
This should make the disk bootable for SMS.

If it's OK, we'll ask for patch inclusion into 14.04.4. Thanks!

Steps:

1) At the installation finished/complete dialog, select Go back

2) Select Execute a shell

3) Download the package to the installed system's files (/target):

~ # wget 'http://ausgsa.ibm.com/~mauricfo/public/bugs/bz134065/v0
/powerpc-ibm-utils_1.2.26-1~14.04.1mpathmappings_ppc64el.deb' -O
/target/tmp/pkg.deb

4) Install it there (notice the chroot):
~ # chroot /target dpkg -i /tmp/pkg.deb

5) Find the grub-install command line used in the installation:
~ # grep grub-install /var/log/syslog
note: it's something like chroot /target grub-install --force
"/dev/mapper/mpath<....>"

6) Run that command:
~ # chroot /target grub-install --force "/dev/mapper/mpath<....>"

7) Exit the shell
~ # exit

8) Select Finish the installation to proceed/reboot.

[1] reference to internal location of build with test patched removed.

Hi Mauricio,
Follow your steps and it works fine. System finishes installation, reboot and
come back up fine without the need to stop at sms any more. Thanks
