I'm starting to think there is some correlation between this bug & the number of populated dir. on the Desktop. Seems to not occur when # is 22 or less. Also boot time to Desktop may be a contributing factor, here I'm on an ssd (external but fast, usually less than 10 sec. from grub to Desktop)
