I also just tried the 4.5.0-040500rc1-generic kernel. Minidisplay to hdmi convertor.
If I put my secondary screen on 3840x2160, I notice that after awhile I get the same black screen interval bug again. Keeping the resolution to the same as my laptop ( 1920x1080 ) seems to be stable so far. No flicker yet.
