Public bug reported:
The version of npm in Trusty (14.04) is npm 1.3.10. This version suffers
from a bug where npm prepublish script is not run when one wants to
publish a package by running "npm publish" (see
https://github.com/npm/npm/issues/3856 ). This is an issue for JS
developers working on 14.04 LTS.
The issue was fixed in npm 1.3.13, but the latest 1.3 release is npm
1.3.26. It could be best to upgrade the npm version in Trusty to 1.3.26
(FYI, the version of Node.js found in Trusty is Node.js 0.10.25, and
this upstream version bundles npm 1.3.24, so we're quite safe here).
