Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to improve
Ubuntu.
The error in your upgrade log is:
Log started: 2009-03-19 10:52:20
(Reading database ... 433205 files and directories currently installed.)
Removing nautilus-cd-burner ...
dpkg: unrecoverable fatal error, aborting:
fork failed: Cannot allocate memory
(Reading database ... 433206 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace login 1:4.1.1-6ubuntu2 (using
.../login_1%3a4.1.1-6ubuntu3_amd64.deb) ...
dpkg: unrecoverable fatal error, aborting:
fork failed: Cannot allocate memory
dpkg: error processing login (--configure):
package login is not ready for configuration
cannot configure (current status `half-installed')
This points to your system having a resource problem at the time of the
upgrade. Unfortunately it's impossible to know from here what caused
the resource problem at the time. It doesn't appear that there were any
specific, resolvable errors in the handling of the resource problem by
the upgrader. I am therefore closing this bug as invalid.
