Binary package hint: avidemux
i converted some .rmvb to .mpg with
mencoder film.rmvb -of mpeg -oac lavc -lavcopts
acodec=mp2:abitrate=96:vmax_b_frames=16:vb_strategy=2 -af
resample=44100:0:0 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg2video:vbitrate=800
-vf scale=320:240,harddup -ofps 25 -o film.mpg
if iw will open the .mpg with avidemux it crashes after indexing the .mpg
start avidemux again and try to open the file again it crashes again.
