Joe, be aware that the vss daemon for Hyper-V only supports host
versions 5.0 and greater. As a result, it won't actually *do* anything
on Windows Server 2012. I'm not sure what the underlying issue is, but
is it spinning in an attempt to start the daemon? This really slows down
our VMs and we do a lot of testing so it would be really good to figure
out what changed to cause this behavior.
