I installed the latest updates available for vlc. During the
installation of the updates, I got the following error

Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Please run 'vlc-cache-gen -f /usr/lib/vlc/plugins' manually.
vlc-cache-gen crashed with a segmentation fault when I ran
$ /usr/lib/vlc/vlc-cache-gen -f /usr/lib/vlc/plugins/
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
Even vlc crashes with a segmentation fault
$ vlc
VLC media player 2.2.2 Weatherwax (revision 2.2.2-0-g6259d80)
