In the trusty kernel (Ubuntu-3.13.0-77.121 - 
https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-kernel/ubuntu/+source/linux/+git/trusty/+ref/master)
 we tried to include the below patch to see if that resolves the network 
performance regression issue.
Patch is 
http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git/commit/?id=757647e10e55c01fb7a9c4356529442e316a7c72

However, with the patch applied directly to the cloned trusty branch, the 
compilation fails with a lot of undeclared symbols.
Are you able to build a test kernel including the patches from comment #18 and 
with the above mentioned one?
