Binary package hint: pidgin
To duplicate:
1. change a Pidgin preference. The fastest is Buddy -> Show -> uncheck Buddy
Details.
2. Logout of Ubuntu
3. Login to Ubuntu
4. Open Pidgin. The preference you changed has been reverted to the default.
