Downloaded these 3 files: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.2.8-ckt1-wily/linux-headers-4.2.8-040208ckt1-generic_4.2.8-040208ckt1.201601081730_i386.deb http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.2.8-ckt1-wily/linux-headers-4.2.8-040208ckt1_4.2.8-040208ckt1.201601081730_all.deb http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.2.8-ckt1-wily/linux-image-4.2.8-040208ckt1-generic_4.2.8-040208ckt1.201601081730_i386.deb Then did sudo dpkg -i *.deb Rebooted, selected "Advanced...." when grub appeared, selected ckt1 generic option for boot. "Quiet Splash" was removed earlier from the BIOS. Bootup ended at ~2.5 sec showing "---[end Kernel panic - not syncing: No working init found. Try passing init= option to kernel. See Linux Documentation/init.txt for guidance". I let it sit for ~50 mins but no progress. Rebooted using the "recovery mode" and "upstart" and got the same results. Then downloaded the appropriate files for ckt2, but got the same results. Didn't try ckt3. Any suggestions on the init= option thingy? Going to bed. TIA, Bill
