It's most likely an LXC issue which can be very difficult to figure out.
Could you please do the following?
- apt-cache policy lxc
- Start the unity8-lxc container by hand and attach the output:
'sudo lxc-start -n unity8-lxc --logfile=start_unity8-lxc.out
--logpriority=DEBUG"
