I guess this is almost the same bug as what I'm experiencing here after installing the Gutsy beta.
I experience problems with the screens booting up, logging in, logging out, logging off, and sometimes the system even freezes a while after clicking the log off button on the upper right hand corner. I also use startup-manager (unchecked boot splash screen) , and normally it shows me what's going on whilst booting. Now I just get a blank (black) screen. Logging out and/or off also displays that same screen, only, this time not so complete black and blank. Looks more like something's wrong with the resolution. Logging in always seem to display that ubuntu-brown screen (I use solid colour for my background screen) and it takes a long while before it changes the colour to my own blue (user) or red (root). After switching user (user > root) and then back (log out root > logging back in user) brought my machine to a freeze at one time. There is clearly something wrong with the way Ubuntu Gutsy handles the activities of booting in, logging in, logging off. And this not only in Ubuntu itself, I also experience this with Xubuntu Gutsy. I will testdrive Kubuntu tomorrow. P.S.: By the way: I'm getting rather tired of that [EMAIL PROTECTED])|!qr§à warning screen when logging in as root. -- GDM Boot into Black screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/147816 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
