I have only changed the autospawn line in /etc/pulse/client.conf:

; autospawn = no

That at least stopped it from continuously respawning and flooding
syslog, until I rebooted, apparently that doesn't apply when it starts
as a daemon at boot time.

Log attached... it died pretty quickly.
