I'm testing Gutsy beta and experience the same problem: when I try switching to a different user (by click on the "Switch User" icon in the Log Out panel) I get a blank screen and a active mouse. This fails consistently. I don´t know exactly how, but at some point I get the graphics card configuration dialog (new in Gutsy) showing completely incorrect settings. Even though a try and change to the right settings it just keeps coming up with the initial, incorrect ones.
I experience something similar - but perhaps for different reasons - when a Suspend the system and then wake it up. Exact same behabior after the wakeup.
