This seems to be sorted now, perhaps because of:
abiword (2.4.6-2ubuntu2) gutsy; urgency=low
* Rebuild for the libpoppler1 -> libpopper2 transistion.
* Add poppler06-api patch that corrects calls for the new poppler API.
