Public bug reported:
Ubuntu 15.10 64Bits Desktop.
open-vm-tools package 2:9.10.2-2822639-1ubuntu3
Shared Folders function not available at all since Ubuntu virt. mach. been
upgraded to 15.10.
Needed packages dkms, desktop, core package install successfully, however the
function is not available.
According to Readme.md file (VmWare's open-vm-tools project repo on Github)
the VmWare's open-vm-tools package won't include needed Linux drivers as those
were available
in Linux kernel itself. Linux kernels since 3.10 support all drivers except for
hgfs.
So the impression arises open-vm-tools development guys won't target in their's
work
the implementation of hgfs driver. These leave this job to distributions or
Linux mainline kernel.
This launchpad project is the evidence for my assumption.
So Ubuntu and other distributions seem to be in duty of providing working hgfs
driver.
I do not see any signals a job is in progress here (this launchpad project) for
fixing this bug.
Nor I am able to find bug same as this already open and in processing.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
