It's true that the Chinese Noto Sans fonts are now preferred before Takao: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/language- selector/+bug/1468027/comments/68 Are some characters present in both Chinese and Japanese? If so, I imagine that the result of the current config file may be a mix of Noto Sans and Takao supported rendering.
