Apologize but I have to adjust my bug-report a little.
It is true that trackerd was slowing down my pc, but the unstability of
Eclipse was because Gutsy replaced my installed (Sun) Java by gij Java. gij
is known to make Eclipse unstable.
I have replaced gij by my old Sun Java again and now Eclipse is stable.

I am willing to try out trackerd 0.6.3 for you, but how exactly should I
proceed to install it from the archive?

Regards,
Misja
