I agree with using "safe". "Failsafe" gets into jargon territory. Also, one thing to keep in mind is gdm has its own "failsafe" mode (that pops up a raw X with an xterm) different from the one used with Bulletproof-X. Also, Ubuntu's grub has a "recovery mode". So avoiding both those terms may help prevent future terminology confusion.
